favor!

Dear readers,

I hope you have enjoyed the slew of new posts! Make sure to read them all. I had a little backlog and took advantage of the lack of internet to finish them up and then the return of the internet to post them!

I have a favor to ask. I have been reading a LOT since coming to Cambodia and I am starting to run out of books on my beloved kindle.  Some of my favorite books that I’ve read since coming to Cambodia have been “Let the Great World Spin”, “One Day”, “The Sun Also Rises”, and “The Shadow of the Wind” just in case you are looking for some recommendations.

What I would like from you is book recommendations. What is your favorite book? The best new book you got this holiday season? The book you like to re-read once a year because it is that good? I have an Amazon gift card burning a hole in my proverbial pocket.

Thank you!

Love,
Brenda

PS: I have found bagel, egg and cheese sandwiches in Battambang. While they are nothing like the basement of Ivory or GW deli, the taste is enough to make me forget about weeks when I step on bees, have screaming matches with mice and my mosquito net falls while I’m sleeping. Swoon.

Favors!!

  1. I really enjoy reading all your posts. Keep your socks on girl. Those bees can be a PIA or foot, if you will. The taxi situation sounds like a riot. No more complaining for me on that issue. Of course, I don’t take the taxi often. Don’t like sitting in the back seat.

About books. I’ve read two recently that I really enjoyed. One is called “Little Bee”. It is about two women from entirely different cultures and the impact they have on each other’s lives. The next one is “Have a Little Faith”. It’s a Mitch Albom true story. He wrote Tuesdays with Morrie as well as other excellent books. I’m getting another book soon called “When Autumn Leaves”. It was on the Oprah list and sounds good. Hope that helps a bit. Take care and keep up your wonderful sense of humor.

  2. My current favorite contemporary novelist is Per Petterson – his 2 novels, Out Stealing Horses and I Curse The River of Time, are both outstanding, wonderful and not lengthy reads.
lots of love to you – and, by the way, YOU are destined to be a writer for sure! Your wonderful posts give us all such a great sense of your life in Cambodia and are pure joy to read.
    lots of love,
    Erica and Anna
